MEET OUR 2024 JUROR
GILBERT CANTU
Native to Corpus Christi, Texas, Gilbert Cantu has been producing art his entire life. Throughout elementary school, middle school and high school, art played a major role in shaping who he is today. After graduating high school with Art Honors, Gilbert earned his degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Houston in 1999.
In 2007, Gilbert exhibited his first solo art show in Corpus Christi with his new style of mixed media painting influenced by his graphic design. In late 2015, after years of working in acrylics, Gilbert migrated into the colorful world of oil painting. Gilbert has created numerous high-profile public and private commissions and exhibited in restaurants and galleries all over South Texas, including Corpus Christi, Laredo, Austin, and New York City.
